The Nashville BirthNetwork is an alliance of individuals and organizations in Middle Tennessee with concern for the care and well-being of mothers, babies, and families. Our mission is to promote an evidence-based, wellness model of maternity care that will improve birth outcomes and substantially reduce costs.
BirthNetwork National is leading a grassroots movement based on the belief that birth can profoundly affect our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. BirthNetwork National advocates Mother-Friendly care, as defined by the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative (MFCI). By making informed choices and having confidence in the process, families can experience safe and satisfying childbirth.
Babywearing International of Middle Tennessee is local chapter of a national non-profit organization whose mission is to promote babywearing as a universally accepted practice, with benefits for both child and caregiver, through education and support. We provide free educational meetings and support within our communities, offering public meetings monthly in Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin. One of the highlights of attending a meeting is getting to peruse the Learning Library, which contains nearly 200 carriers in a wide variety of styles, brands, and sizes. Members are able to checkout a different carrier every month try at home and better learn what their babywearing needs are. Our Volunteer Babywearing Educators (VBEs) are experienced and passionate, always on hand to help teach skills and safety.
